Shreveport Forecaster Sues Former Employer For Discrimination; ND Leaves Abruptly

An Austin news director with Little Rock ties has left NBC affiliate KXAN after the station found itself in legal trouble earlier this month.

But it’s unclear whether or not Michael Fabac, who had also been ND at Little Rock’s KLRT, left voluntarily.

Two lawsuits filed against the station — one from a former weekend morning meteorologist — have sent shockwaves through the building.

Miami Station Selects New Assistant ND From Rival Network

Chad Matthews has been picked as the new assistant news director for WTVJ, the NBC O&O in Miami, Fla.

TVNewsCheck reports Matthews previously served as the senior executive producer for ABC-owned WABC in New York for the last 12 years.

In fact, TVSpy reports he’s been on the air in the Big Easy nearly a week now.

Florida NBC O&O Launches New Lifestyle Show

It’s called “6 In The Mix,” and Miami NBC affiliate WTVJ seems to be sparing no expense on the new show’s presentation.

TVNewsCheck reports the show, which is slotted to air weekdays at 11:30 a.m., will be hosted by WTVJ’s own Roxanne Vargas and aims to give viewers a fast-paced look at lifestyle and entertainment options throughout Miami and South Florida.

Former Lafayette Reporter Jumps 92 Markets With New Job

Former KATC reporter Shawn Kline just caught a big break. After working in Lafayette, La., he scored a job with Columbus, Ohio, ABC affiliate WSYX.

That’s a jump to market 34. Kline will be a multimedia reporter, according to TVSpy.

Shreveport Reporter’s New Texas Job Brings Him Full Circle In Career

Gary Cooper, multimedia journalist at KTBS in Shreveport, La., has accepted a job in his hometown of San Antonio.

As of next month, though, she’ll be working in Orlando for WESH-TV.

Kansas City Broadcaster Set To Become Louisiana Station’s Top Anchor

Kansas City weekend anchor and reporter Mark Boyle will soon become the new main anchor for KNOE-TV in the Monroe, La.-El Dorado, Ark., market, according to TVSpy.

Boyle currently works at CBS affiliate KCTV, where he’s been employed since July 2010.
