Former Missouri reporter/anchor Blake Hanson has been hired by WDSU-TV in New Orleans.

In fact, TVSpy reports he’s been on the air in the Big Easy nearly a week now.

Ft. Myers Anchor Makes Leap to Missouri

He’s been with WZVN and WBBH for more than a decade, but in May, anchor Len Jennings will be trading in that sun and surf for Missouri, a state many say hinges between Southern hospitality and Northern sensibility.

Jennings goes to ABC affiliate KMBC after anchoring newscasts for WZVN (the ABC affiliate in Ft. Myers) for nearly 10 years. He’s been a primary anchor on sister station and NBC affiliate WBBH for a year.

Video Looks Back on Deadly 2011 Tornadoes, Showcases Broadcasters’ Perspectives

The deadly tornadoes that swept through Alabama and Missouri in 2011 also made many meteorologists in those areas local heroes because of their reporting during those disasters.

A recently-posted video, produced by students from the University of Oklahoma and the University of Alabama, not only looks back on those intensely devastating days, but also shows how local television and radio stations helped so many get to safety.
