Until June, Mark Joyella will continue to work as a digital producer for CNN’s Erin Burnett OutFront in New York.

But once that’s over, he’s trading the Big Apple for sunshine and hurricanes.

Joyella will be the new weekend morning anchor/reporter for WFTV-TV, the ABC affiliate in Orlando, Fla., next month, according to Joyella’s blog, standupkid.com.

In a post from April 30, Joyella describes that phone call that got him the job.

Out of the proverbial blue, I got a phone call. Bob Jordan had a position open for an anchor/reporter at WFTV in Orlando, which anyone in television will tell you is one of those stations that doesn’t often have openings for news anchors and reporters. As an agent put it bluntly, “it’s FTV…and it’s Bob Jordan.” As a career move, it was a no-brainer.

Joyella had moved to Florida in 1994 when Jordan hired him at WFTS-TV in Tampa. He also worked a four-year stint at WPLG in Miami, according to the blog.

The Orlando Sentinel reports Joyella replaces morning anchor Greg Warmoth, who will be anchoring the 5:30 and 11 p.m. newscasts, starting May 24.

Congratulations, Mark!
