She’s a graduate of Arkansas State University and a Jonesboro native. And next week, Laura Huckabee will officially join the on-air staff of 40/29 News Sunrise next week, on May 14.

Huckabee will be the morning meteorologist for KHBS/KHOG-TV, the Fort Smith-Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers market ABC affiliate.

In a news release from the station announcing her arrival, the station’s president and general manager, Brian Sather, says Huckabee understands Arkansas and the area’s weather.

And that’s to be expected from someone who’s spent two decades forecasting, much of which was done in Arkansas at KAIT-TV in Jonesboro and KARK-TV in Little Rock.

From the article:

“Laura understands weather is the most important element in our morning newscast,” Sather said. “I’m confident from day one viewers will enjoy her comfortable delivery and informative local forecasts.”

Huckabee also previously worked at WGCL-TV in Atlanta for 10 years as the morning meteorologist.

And in case you’re wondering about her last name, yes, she is former state Gov. Mike Huckabee’s cousin.

  1. Arkansas you are lucky to have Laura back on the air. We miss her here in Atlanta. I think WGCL made a huge mistake in letting her go. Best wishes Laura!
