Two Mobile-Pensacola Stations Take HD Plunge

Although Mobile-Pensacola FOX affiliate WALA-TV has been enjoying its new HD transition and set design since April 21, competitor WPMI has become the last station in this market to make the switch as well, debuting its high-definition newscasts and sparkling set over the weekend.

Both WALA and NBC affiliate WPMI got complete set makeovers as well, with new graphics packages and control rooms to boot.

 

 

New Studio for WALA-TV

Florida News Center reports WALA had been using a temporary set since March 3.

WPMI says its new upgrades also include “state-of-the-art” computers and software from Weather Central.

Bloggers tell South TV News both are still running some commercials in 4:3 and we haven’t been able to get a clear answer on whether or not their field cameras/editing equipment has also crossed over into high definition (and in many cases, tapeless newsrooms).
