New Orleans Reporter Hired By Rival Station, Calls Move “Natural Fit”

He’s been a reporter for WGNO-TV in New Orleans for more than two decades. Tomorrow night, Don Dubuc will be on his competitor’s airwaves, market leader WWL-TV, for a 6 p.m. report.

In an interview with the Times-Picayune‘s Dave Walker, Dubuc talks about how he wants to cover stories that appeal to the Pelican State’s roots, but it will be more broad than the cooking segments he’s done for years.

Big Easy Sports Director’s Departure Marks Second High-Profile Loss for WWL

Legendary WWL sports director Jim Henderson will retire from the CBS affiliate in February, he told colleagues in an email which got picked up by The Times-Picayune.

The 65-year-old replaced Hap Glaudi as sports director in 1978.

His career also spans radio broadcasting, specifically play-by-play announcing. Henderson celebrates his 30th year as the New Orleans Saints’ radio frontman later this year.
