Longtime Tennessee TV and Radio Personality Betty Mac Dies

If you grew up in the Chattanooga, Tenn., area from the 1950s through the 1980s, chances are you either saw or heard longtime news and radio personality Betty “Mac” McCullough Thomas.

She died Tuesday at the age of 84.

South Alabama Station’s General Manager Dies Unexpectedly

Vice president and general manager Bob Dunn, who began working for the Mobile, Ala., NBC affiliate WPMI-TV less than a year ago, died suddenly Tuesday afternoon.

TVNewser reports the cause of death has not yet been released.

Former Arkansas Weatherman Will Not Be Charged in Hot Tub Death

Even though the appearance of guilt more than likely cost him his job, former Little Rock meteorologist Brett Cummins will not be charged in the September 2011 death of his friend, 24-year-old Dexter Williams.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports former KARK employee Cummins was found beside Williams in a hot tub on Labor Day. Investigators found traces of blood in the hot tub, but no water was present.

Cause of Death Undetermined for Reporter Between Jobs

Four days before reporter Ken Ward was scheduled to start a job in Tampa, Fla,, his body was found by authorities in his apartment, according to the International Business Times.

Ward had just finished his contract with the Charlotte, N.C.-based ABC affiliate WSOC-TV, and was scheduled to drive to Tampa and start his job at another ABC affiliate, WFTS-TV, last week.

But what caused his abrupt death?

Longtime Nashville Weatherman Dies After Sudden Illness

Well-known Nashville weatherman Bill Hall died earlier this week at the age of 65, the Daily News Journal reports.

Hall, who worked for NBC affiliate WSMV-TV for 31 years, became popular with his viewers through his calming voice and quirky sense of humor.

He started at the station as a weather reporter in 1974, moving up the ranks quickly. Despite a brief stint as a weekend news anchor in 1976, he became chief forecaster a year later.
