Longtime broadcast journalist Mark Bullock has been promoted to evening anchor for WSFA, the NBC affiliate in Montgomery, Ala.

Bullock will anchor the 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts for the station.

A news release on states Bullock will fill the vacant spot left when veteran anchor Bob Howell retired last month.

Bullock has nearly two decades of experience to build on, but still he tells WSFA the spot he’s been given is considered sacred ground.

From the article:

“For years I worked closely with Bob,” Bullock said. “I consider him a mentor and a friend. And while no one can fill his shoes, I am honored to have been named his replacement.”

Station news director Scott Duff said using a face viewers already recognize in this role is a tremendous first step.

“[Mark] could anchor anywhere in the country. He has been a part of our community and an important part of our news team for 14 years,” Duff said. “He truly has earned this opportunity.”

Congratulations on the promotion, Mark!
