West Palm Beach, Fla., native Jennifer Ortega has been hired by CBS affiliate WCBI-TV as the station’s newest reporter.

She fills the spot left open when former reporter Joe Barnes jumped markets and stared reporting for WLBT-TV in Jackson, Miss.

Ortega’s biography on the station website states she first started her on-air career as a reporter for cable television channel Hola TV in March 2011, but that stint only lasted a matter of months. During her time there, she served as a reporter and weather anchor for the channel, writing/voicing those in Spanish.

She also interned at several stations in South Florida and worked as a weekend editor and photographer for WPEC, the CBS affiliate in West Palm Beach.

Ortega’s newest venture at the Columbus-Tupelo-West Point-Houston market station began in April.

Congratulations on the new job, Jennifer!
