After three years at WTVA-TV in the Tupelo-Columbus-West Point-Houston market, morning meteorologist Jennifer Watson will soon begin work as a meteorologist at WHNT-TV in Huntsville, Ala., according to an insider at the CBS affiliate.

Watson first began working at the Tupelo NBC affiliate in 2009 as a weekend meteorologist. The farewell article on WTVA’s website states she got bumped up to mornings a year later. But who will fill her shoes?

Meteorologist Kara James was hired in March — as per her station biography — and has already replaced Watson on the morning show.

“I’m very excited to start, but it’s also bittersweet because this was my first job out of college, and I just want to thank everybody for welcoming me into their homes,” Watson said in a good-bye video segment featured on WTVA’s website.

The Huntsville source would not tell South TV News when Watson is expected to start or who she’ll be replacing, but once that has been verified, we’ll have that on this site as well.

Watson’s last day at WTVA was May 3.

Congrats to both meteorologists!
