After two decades as a familiar face among those who work and live in the Birmingham, Ala., area, WBRC morning show anchor Rick Journey has announced he’s leaving the station and the business next month.

Journey began his career at the station in 1992, working in the Tuscaloosa newsroom. He would then move on to covering state politics in Montgomery.

From the WBRC article:

“It has been a pleasure to serve this station and our viewers for nearly 20 years,” Journey said. “For some time, I have thought about using the skills and contacts developed through a career in journalism to enter a new stage of my life. I am blessed to have those opportunities before me.”

He tells the station he plans to continues as a contributor to the FOX affiliate, both on television and the web, but the particulars of that arrangement have not yet been announced.

His last day on the station’s morning show, Good Day Alabama, is June 29.

  1. All the best, Rick! You’ll be missed.
