Statewide Newscast Planned for Arkansas Stations

In Arkansas, Fort Smith-Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers, Little Rock-Pine Bluff, Monroe-El Dorado, NBC, Nexstar on April 4, 2012 at 10:45 am

Four Arkansas stations owned by Nexstar Broadcasting will soon be pooling their resources together to provide content for a statewide newscast that will also air on the four stations.

TVNewser reports KARK in the Little Rock market, KNWA in the Fort Smith-Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers market, KTVE in the Monroe, La.-El Dorado market and KTAL in Texarkana will air the newscast at noon, titled “Arkansas Today.”

All four stations are not only owned by Nexstar, but also are NBC affiliates.

The newscast will originate from KARK with anchor Mallory Hardin and meteorologist Greg Dee.

Nexstar CEO Brian Jones said the resources from all stations include three satellite trucks and nine microwave live vehicles.

From the article:

“These resources combined with our statewide teams of anchors and reporters will bring Arkansas viewers the state’s most comprehensive daily news and weather coverage in a format they can’t get anywhere else,” Jones said.

The newscast began Monday. Reporters from all four stations will contribute their stories.

  1. So what happened to the noon anchors/reporters at the other three stations?

  2. Good question. We don’t know at this point. I don’t have a lot of Arkansas contacts, but I can do some checking.
