He’s been a reporter for WGNO-TV in New Orleans for more than two decades. Tomorrow night, Don Dubuc will be on his competitor’s airwaves, market leader WWL-TV, for a 6 p.m. report.

In an interview with the Times-Picayune‘s Dave Walker, Dubuc talks about how he wants to cover stories that appeal to the Pelican State’s roots, but it will be more broad than the cooking segments he’s done for years.

From the article:

“I want to concentrate on the culture of fishing and hunting here,” Dubuc said.

That reporting, he added, will cover conservation issues and wetlands erosion, as well as more stories about the regional hunting scene.

“It’s very much a part of our ingrained heritage and culture down here,” he said.

Dubuc said the move was easy because he worked for the ABC affiliate without a contract.

Another irony here: he’ll be joined Thursday night by the person he’s replacing, Frank Davis, who semi-retired in December as the station’s lifestyle correspondent.
