WMC-TV wins the coveted ratings war in Memphis.

Memphis NBC affiliate WMC-TV consistently lauds itself as the most-watched television station in the market, and now recent ratings numbers prove it.

Station execs tell the Commercial Appeal newspaper they dominated every time slot for news. It’s the first time that’s happened for WMC in fifteen years, they say.

From the Commercial Appeal article:

The February ratings marked the third consecutive time that the NBC-affiliated station came out on top during the coveted evening time slots, after engaging in a ratings tug-of-war for viewers with CBS-affiliate WREG-TV Channel 3 during the past several sweeps periods.

With results for February television sweeps in, WMC-TV Channel 5 claimed the top spots at 5 a.m., 6 a.m., noon, 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. WREG-TV Channel 3 finished second in all the broadcasts.

“We’re encouraged by the growth of these news ratings,” said WMC general manager Lee Meredith. “We never take our viewers for granted.”

Here are the evening numbers provided by Nielsen:

5 p.m.: WMC (9.8), WREG (7.3), FOX 13 (5.1), ABC 24 (2.7)

6 p.m.: WMC (11.6), WREG (7.6), ABC 24 (2.1)

10 p.m.: WMC (12.1), WREG (9.5), FOX 13 (3.1), ABC 24 (1.8)

FOX 13 had a 5.6 for its 9 p.m. broadcast.
