KATV News Director Leaves; Third Station Exec to Quit in Less Than a Month

News director Randy Dixon says he’s moving on after 31 years with the Little Rock-Pine Bluff ABC affiliate.

He told the Arkansas Times the move was something he’d been thinking about “for a long time.”

The Arkansas industry news site ArkansasBusiness.com reported earlier this week that Dixon was not the first; KATV’s assistant news director and chief engineer also left this year.

Dixon plans to start his own production company, called Dixon Digital Media.

From ArkansasBusiness.com:

“I’m a producer at heart. I love to produce video,” Dixon said. He adds that he is currently working on creating a business plan, designing a logo and finding office space.

Dixon’s last day will be sometime in mid-February. There’s no word yet on a possible replacement, but given that KATV is the ratings leader for the Little Rock-Pine Bluff market, there’ll likely be no shortage of applicants.

And of course, if they’re announced, we’ll keep you posted.
